Header image: Screenshot of a browser window. On the top part of the page, many words are laid out as a tag cloud; the rest are photos of handwritten cards, laid out in a 5 by 2 grid.
The software has been developed by Naoto Hieda, through a research project as a junior research fellow at Tallinn University, supported by MODINA. For the concept of the software and for the research, please find the project page.
The web platform is coded in JavaScript running on a self-hosted server using node.js. Card templates are printed for the participants in advance. When the card photo is not uploaded yet, the QR code redirects to the upload page. Once the upload is completed, the QR code directs to the photo of the card. On the top page, cards are displayed chronologically from the latest card (as in the cover image). Uploaded images are processed by an AI-based optical character recognition algorithm for transcription, which is used for generating a tag cloud to enhance searchability and an Alt text for a screen reader.
